45 years of freedom, 45 years after the Carnation Revolution. 25 de Abril SEMPRE! In April, Portugal celebrates 45th anniversary of liberation from dictatorship. During the Carnation revolution or “gentle“revolution almost not shots were fired. The flowers and music became the symbol instead. Since 1932, Portugal had been ruled by an authoritarian dictatorship Dictator Antonio Oliveira Salazar. His regime only crumbled on April 25 1974. 20 minutes after midnight, song “Grândola, Vila Morena” by prohibited singer Zeca Afonso was broadcasted in the national radio as a one of the secret symbol. ...

We celebrated these festivities by bringing Portugal to the heart of Europe. Portucalio was part of the official partners in the funniest carnival party of the Czech Republic organized by Camões Institute in Prague. And now for what everyone is been waiting, the winners of our giveaway! We were supposed to give 5 calendars in total but we end up offering 2 extra calendars. Portuguese culture for the youngest The youngest members of the Portuguese community in Czech enjoyed their last classes of winter semester in the Escolinha Portuguesa em Praga and Portucalio was there as well. Since 2012, Escolinha Portuguesa em Praga has been the the stage for “todos os pequeninos”. The little ones can now make a quick trip to a Portuguese kinder garden and romp with Portuguese speaking friends every Saturday! ...
